Rebuilding lives to stay clean and sober through free sports and fitness activities
BACKGROUND
Fit For Recovery
Sober Climbers was inspired by our founder Terri’s past participation in Phoenix Multisport, a successful non-profit program, based in Denver, Colorado. We are designed to provide free sports and fitness activities for anyone who has at least 48 hours clean and sober from drugs and alcohol, and who is committed to an ongoing recovery program. Donations are accepted but all services are ultimately free to anyone who qualifies based on our criteria.
On January 27, 2019, we launched Sober Climbers as a weekly group event, open to anyone with at least 48 hours clean and sober, who is committed to ongoing recovery. All equipment, training and climbing time is free. Donations are accepted.
Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to support recovery from alcohol and drug addiction by offering a healthy means of elevating natural brain chemistry, increasing physical health, and expanding self-image through sports and fitness activities.
The Beginning
Inaugural Event
On January 27, 2019, we launched Sober Climbers. Our inaugural event drew 43 participants to learn to climb, and our weekly attendance now averages 14, with about half being return climbers. We have had over 150 attendants in the first two months of operation.

One event per quarter is offered as a family day, so that parents may bring up to two children (age 8 and up) as an opportunity to help rebuild their relationships.
